David Guillory

David Guillory

David Guillory has played the piano all of his life. At the age of five, he started lessons under Jude Geiger. For the next four years, he studied the basics under Ms. Geiger and gradually made his way into classical music. He acquired an array of awards from festivals and competitions. Eventually, Ms. Geiger moved away and he lost interest. Later, in high school, David started playing under Clarence Jones. Clarance introduced David to the art of Jazz. David immediately fell in love with Jazz and perused it with all his free time. After this, David enrolled at Southern where he met Alvin Batiste. He played under Dr. Batiste for about a year until his engineering curriculum took precedence. Again, David had to focus on school and he stopped playing for about 5 years. About a year ago, David resumed his studies under Mike Esneault. David has been actively studying music theory and improvisation under Mike, with the vision of becoming an accomplished jazz pianist. David's influences come from many artists, including Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, McCoy Tyner, Kenny Barron and others. David currently resides in Baton Rouge working as a Civil Engineer.
